My Unique Blend – Why I Work the Way I Do as a UK Virtual Assistant and Utility Warehouse Partner

Inside a course I’m doing called Storytelling Mastery, there’s this beautiful idea that really resonated with me: your unique blend – everything you’ve done, experienced, learned and lived through, that shapes how you show up in the work you do today. And when I stopped to think about it, I realised just how many layers there are to mine.


I’ve worked across the public sector, private businesses, charities, hospitality and, more recently, in medical administration. I’ve built a business from scratch, dabbled in a few others, and supported countless people through transitions in their own lives and careers. And all of it has added something to how I show up as a UK-based Virtual Assistant and Utility Warehouse Partner today.


I work best under pressure. Give me a tight deadline, and I’m in my element – fast-thinking, fast-working, and focused. But give me too much time, and I’ll likely dawdle or procrastinate. I’m not ashamed to admit that! It’s something I’ve learned about myself over the years, and now I use it to my advantage.


Organisation is my love language – there’s nothing I enjoy more than a well-structured Gantt chart, a colour-coded to-do list, or a spreadsheet that actually makes sense. (Just don’t ask me to create charts or macros in Excel – that’s where I draw the line!) I love helping clients solve problems, improve their systems, and find easier, smarter ways to work. Thinking outside the box? Always!

I love a good challenge and pride myself on finding creative solutions.

Some might say I’m stubborn – I prefer tenacious! When I’m committed to something, I will absolutely see it through. I’ll keep going when others might have given up. It’s a strength that’s served me well, especially when juggling multiple clients, complex projects, or moments of uncertainty.


Working for myself suits me – I enjoy the autonomy, the variety, and the ability to do meaningful work on my terms. But I’ll be honest: it can sometimes feel a bit lonely. That’s probably a story for another day, but it’s part of what drives me to create genuine, collaborative relationships with the people I support.


And it’s not just about the tasks I do – it’s how I do them. I’ve supported people through some incredibly emotional and meaningful moments: helping someone rebuild their career after a major change, bringing joy and comfort to people living with dementia and their families, or giving overwhelmed business owners the breathing space they need to grow.


Building Silver Moon VA wasn’t just a career move – it was a mindset shift. I had to overcome imposter syndrome, put myself out there, and back myself fully. I’ve since expanded my offering to include working as a Utility Warehouse Partner, helping people save money on their utility bills – which complements my Virtual Assistant services by simplifying everyday life and helping clients manage their household and business costs more efficiently.  I also run an independent travel agency, offering free-of-charge support to book personal holidays and business travel – making it easier for busy people to plan time away without the stress.


I’m also a storyteller at heart. I believe in the power of clear, honest communication – whether I’m writing for a client, designing a campaign, or sharing snippets of my own journey. And I think that’s part of what makes this whole thing work – I don’t just do the work, I care about the people and the purpose behind it.


So this is my unique blend. And while it’s still evolving, it’s 100% mine.
